Getting involved means becoming a part of the GBC family!
Many Christ-centered activities are available for you to connect, learn, and serve at GBC.
Our goal is to see you mature in your relationship with Jesus. We also believe that every member is a minister and want to help you use your gifts here!

GBC Ministry Opportunities

PROJECT SHARE CHRISTMAS: Each Christmas hundreds of gifts are donated to needy families. Adults and children are nominated by GBCers. Then “paper angels” with these requests are hung on a Christmas tree in the fellowship hall, gifts are donated and wrapped with the “paper angels” attached and are hand delivered on the day of/before Christmas.

AWANA: Each Wednesday night, elementary & middle school children participate in games, scripture memory, crafts, and are exposed to local and foreign missions. Grades PreK - 5.

AUDIO TECHNICIANS: This team sets up and monitors the sound for spoken word and music activities.

BOOK LIBRARY: Librarians organize and staff the GBC library which contains Biblical study materials as well as Christian literature.

BUILDING STEWARDS: These are the people who direct the care of the building and grounds.

CLEANING: Those involved in this ministry clean the building on a rotating schedule so that it is ready for each use.

CLOSER/OPENER: These servants arrive early and stay late ensuring the building is unlocked and ready for services and then secure the building at the close of activites.

DÉCOR: Providing esthetically pleasing and appropriate decorations throughout the facility is the goal of this team.

ENGAGE: This Wednesday night middle school ministry combines fun with teaching from God’s word. Grades 6-8.

GLEANINGS:  Special funds are set aside for those who are experiencing financial difficulties. Two couples that meet with those in need of this support oversee this fund. This is typically a one-time emergency action that meets the emergency needs for food, housing, transportation, heat assistance and others by paying for these needs at the source. No currency is given directly to the person(s) in need.  Gleanings is an Old Testament term. It refers to the practice by farmers to set aside a portion of their produce for those in need to come and harvest as they have emergency need.

GREETERS: Greeters are the ‘first’ most important people in our church on Sunday mornings and at special events. They welcome all those who enter our church and help direct them. They are outgoing and eager to greet newcomers, as well as regulars, provide directions to various programs and direct newcomers to the Welcome Center. Contact Lloyd Bayreuther for more information.

HIS SENTIMENTS: This ministry makes handmade cards for those in our fellowship (and people they are connected with) to celebrate births, to share sympathy and for all other occasion between.

MEAL MINISTRY:  The H.O.P.E. Meal Ministry provides prepared frozen-meals to those in need within the Chapel body as a secondary assistance to Chapel Small Groups and familial care.

MISSIONS: This group educates the GBC family on foreign mission work, supports missionaries, and works to send new workers into the field. They also set up and staff Vision teams.

NURSERY CARE: This ministry cares for the infants and toddlers of our church while parents attend classes or services.

WORSHIP BANDS: The bands at Groton Bible Chapel are made up of worship leaders and musicians who serve faithfully in the church every weekend to help prepare our hearts for what the Lord is teaching us.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: For infants through high school. Biblical concepts and truths are taught at age appropriate levels during both Sunday services.

SUNDAY PRAYER MINISTRY: This Prayer Ministry focuses on the Sunday morning services and is open to anyone. Each service folk will meet in a side room off the S-Wing (under the sanctuary) to -  praise God for those attending, pray for those that need to attend, i.e. family and friends, and pray that the morning’s message breaks through to hearts. Please come to pray when you can, no sign up needed. Please contact Deborah Harms, should you desire to be part of the schedule.

Families are identified, verified and “Thanksgiving Baskets” delivered to them on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. For more information, contact Karen Krug or Lloyd Bayreuther.
